Men’s Residential Program
A Structured Path to Freedom
Since 1964, Sacramento Recovery House has been a place where men reclaim their lives from addiction.
Today, under the leadership of Dr. B.J. Davis, Psy.D., our men’s program continues that legacy through a modern, evidence-based approach that restores dignity, builds accountability, and helps men rediscover purpose and pride.
We don’t believe recovery is about punishment or surrender—it’s about education, empowerment, and change.
“When men feel trusted, respected, and believed in, they begin to believe in themselves.”
— Dr. B.J. Davis, Executive Director
Program Overview
Our men’s residential program provides a structured, supportive, and home-like environment where residents can focus fully on recovery and personal growth.
Each participant receives individualized care that addresses substance use, co-occurring mental health challenges, trauma, and life skills—not just symptoms.
Program highlights include:
-
17-bed residential facility in a quiet Sacramento neighborhood
-
Individual and group counseling grounded in CBT, REBT, and Choice Theory
-
Trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
-
Daily recovery education and relapse-prevention workshops
-
Wellness and life-skills development (communication, goal-setting, employment readiness)
-
Integration of family and community support networks
-
Opportunities for peer leadership and service
Residents participate in 30-, 60-, or 90-day programs, with extensions available based on individual progress and needs.
Our Approach
Evidence-Based, Human-Centered Care
Our counselors and clinicians are trained in modern therapeutic models that emphasize thinking, behavior, and emotional regulation.
We focus on helping men understand themselves, build new habits, and develop self-efficacy—the belief that they can shape their own lives.
Accountability and Community
Structure creates stability.
Through shared responsibilities, daily routines, and mutual support, residents learn responsibility and rebuild integrity—skills that extend far beyond recovery.
Non-Punitive Support
Relapse or struggle isn’t treated as failure—it’s met with understanding and renewed effort.
Our staff guide residents through setbacks with compassion, helping them learn from experience and strengthen motivation.
Quality of Life as Recovery
True recovery isn’t just abstinence—it’s learning to live well.
We help men create balanced, meaningful lives filled with connection, health, and purpose.
